Flight testing of unmanned research aircraft is gaining more and more importance. Many projects working on unmanned systems for flight testing have different constraints regarding the air data system compared to manned vehicles. For choosing the right type of pressure sensors, a trade off between low price, low weight and high accuracy has to be made. This paper investigates the behavior of different commercial of the shelf pressure sensors, describes the development process of an air data probe for unmanned flight testing and quantifies the impact of the choice of the pressure sensors on the resulting outputs of the air data system.
